Challenge 11 - Colour Combo x

Hey guys, thanks for stopping by - hope you're well x I can't believe it's time for another challenge already - this month has flown by so quickly! I've just been getting back into the 9-5 following my hols last month and we're very busy in the office at the moment so weeks seem to be going by even quicker than usual. The hubby and I have had a few lovely weekends with friends and family this month which has been great - I do love summer meet ups - managed to work our way through quite a few BBQ's (and alcoholic beverages) :-D

I want to say a big thank you to the lovely ladies who entered our challenge last month - I loved the entries - there's something very cute about button cards x

I've run the numbers though the Random Number Generator again and the winner for the Sketch challenge is:

Suze

Congratulations sweetie – I’ll add your card to the winners wall today x If you email me at flatfriendsboutique@gmail.com with your choice of 4 digis I’ll get them over to you. You can grab your winners badge from the sidebar too – any probs let me know x

As you can see from the title above this month’s challenge is Colour Combo - I've never done one of these before myself and I really enjoyed this one - hopefully it'll be a fun one for you guys too x x

We've got a couple of gorgeous cards from our lovely DT gals as inspiration to get us going - a huge thanks from me to them as always x Hope you'll join us this month - we really look forward to seeing your lovely work x x

Digi hugs and xx's

Hi everyone, Kathy here. I love the color palette Em picked for us this time. It's so pretty and sophisticated. For my card I used Taylor Camping Day. She was so much fun to color in with my copics and I glazed her little glasses so they look real! Hope you will find the time to join our challenge and play along for a chance to win some gorgeous digis!

Sally - Hi everyone.  This month's challenge is Colour Combinations - Pink Grey and Black.  What a lovely combo. I printed out one of Emma's Summer Digis and coloured her with my Graph'it markers in grey and pink. I then die cut the image with a scallop oval and used my pan pastels to soften the edges, matted her on grey and then black.  Added a bow and paper flowers and pearls. Very sophisticated I think.

Hiya, Em here x x I've never done a colour combo card before so really enjoyed making this one :-) I went with the 'Graduation Celebration' digi, decorated my pink card using the Martha Stewart Doily Lace edge punch, and placed some black card on top of that. I cut the 'congrats' (which was supposed to be congratulations but I ran out of space lol) with the Tim Holtz Decorative Strip Alphabet die and finished the card off by mounting the digi using some foam pads to give it a bit of a 3D feel. The papers I used were the fushia & black colour base pastel cards from Hobbycraft and a grey sheet from the 'Darling Dear' My Mind's Eye 6x6 paper pad.

Hey guys, nice to see you again :-D It's been an absolutely amazing month for me as I've spent the majority of it on my hols in the south of Italy :-) You can find out all about it and see our holiday pics on my personal blog if you want to pop by x x

Once again a big thank you to everyone who entered our challenge last month - I really enjoyed  seeing the sketch come to life on your beautiful cards - we'll definitely have to do more sketch ones in the future :-) x

I've run the numbers though the Random Number Generator again and the winner for the Sketch challenge is:

As you can see from the title above this month’s challenge is Cute as a Button which we're hoping will be an easy one to play along with (as long as you have a button or two in your stash that you can pop on your card) be careful if you're super gluing mind - I think there's a bit of finger left on my creation lol :-) x

As always, a winner will be chosen using the Random Number Generator and announced on the 1st of next month (when we launch the August challenge). They will have their choice of 4 free Flat Friends digi’s and their card will feature on our Wall of Fame for the month.

Audrey:

Hi everyone, it's Kathy. I love the theme of buttons, I have a huge jar filled with buttons and love to work them into some projects. I'm getting ready for a beach vacation, so I picked Beach Day to use this month. I hope you will dig out some buttons and play along with us.

Hi everyone, it's Patty. I like buttons very much, I have a huge collection of all colors of buttons i like to work them into my projects. I picked Summer Stroll to use this month. All of the papers are from my Scrap Stash and use some yellow griham ribbon for the loop. Come and play along with us.

Sally - Hi there ladies & gentlemen, here is my July challenge "Button" design team entry. I used one of Emma Canning's Summer digi images, I coloured her with my Graph it markers in ice cream colours, used three little buttons for the ice cream cone. I then cut her out adhered her to some stripey paper  and birthday wishes paper and finally on the lovely button paper from the new Bon Belle CD Rom from Polkadoodles - Marshmallow collection. Printed off some of the buttons and added a sentiment. x

Hiya guys, Em here – I didn’t mean for my card to be quite so simple this month it just sort of happened lol – it’s definitely a good design if you’re on a budget and I do like clean and simple cards so thought I’d stick with it once it was done :-D I thought I’d have a go with the ‘Millie Bedtime’ digi for this challenge as I’ve had a week of struggling to peel myself out of bed after my hols and it seemed fitting :-) I cut a tag shape in the white card I’d printed my digi on and stuck it on top of the blue paper which is from the My Mind’s Eye ‘Away we Go’ paper pad. I had some cute little pink buttons in my craft cupboard that matched well with Millie’s nightie so I stuck those down with a bit of super glue in the tag to match the pink/blue colour combo of her outfit and finished the card off by mounting the top piece with foam pads to give the card a bit of depth x

Challenge 9 - Sketch x

Hey guys, thanks for popping by x x So we're half way through the year and I'm a very happy bunny today as it's almost time for my annual holiday :-D The hubster and I are off to Italy for a couple of weeks and I can't wait to get some gorgeous sunshine on my fading skin :-)

We're setting off on the 10th to the South of Italy (by the heel) and spending the first week on our own in a townhouse right in the centre of a lovely walled city - lots of eating and drinking out no doubt :-D Then, in the second week, we're meeting up with my gorgeous family in a nearby village to spend a relaxing week in a lovely villa (and there will probably lots of eating and drinking out then too lol). Doesn't get much better than that hey - I'm feeling like a very lucky lady! I'll tell you all about it next month - hopefully I won't be too sad to be back home :-) x

Okay that's enough gushing from me :-D I want to say a huge thanks for all of the gorgeous entries we received on our last challenge - I really loved seeing everyone's punches in action and am even more in love with them now than I was before! Looks like I'll be spending all my pocket money on craft supplies again this month :-)

I've run the numbers though the Random Number Generator again and the winner for the Punches challenge is:

Karen

Congratulations sweetie – I’ll add your card to the winners wall today x If you email me at flatfriendsboutique@gmail.com with your choice of 4 digis I’ll get them over to you. You can grab your winners badge from the sidebar too – any probs let me know x

As you can see from the title above this month’s challenge is to follow a sketch so I've had my first attempt at drawing a very simple one for us to have a go at (as demonstrated by our little assistant Paige below) :-) Our talented DT ladies have come up with some really beautiful takes on the design and I'm really looking forward to seeing what you all come up with x x

As always, a winner will be chosen using the Random Number Generator and announced on the 1st of next month (when we launch the July challenge). They will have their choice of 4 free Flat Friends digi’s and their card will feature on our Wall of Fame for the month.

I’ll leave you to have a look though the really beautiful inspiration we have from our design team this month - thank you ladies - you're amazing x x

Audrey - I have colored this sweet image with Copics and added Atyou Spica glitter pens for the hearts of her dress.  I cut it out with Nestie.  I have used papers from Bazzill.  Sentiment is from Digital Delights and goes perfectly with the image in my opinion:)  I have cut the sentiment with Nestie as well.  Prima bling added.  DP is from Heidi Grace designs. Hugs! Audrey
Hey everyone it's Kathy here. I love sketch challenges, and almost always use a sketch to layout my cards, so I was thrilled when up drew up this wonderful sketch for us to use. It's a nice clean and simple one, but you can really dress it up, too, if you like. I kept mine very simple this week, since it's a masculine card, didn't wan't any bows or flowers here. I used a new image called BBQ. Isn't he super? Love how sauve he looks grilling up some dinner. Going to let one of the kiddos give this to dad for Father's Day. I hope you will jump in and join us for this fun sketch challenge!

Sally - Hi there folks.  Well for this month's challenge it is all about a "Sketch". So I thought I would liven it up a bit!  I saw some Zentangle Art on one of the facebook pages that I am a member of and decided to give it a go! I looked it up on Youtube first!  It is funny you know as when I was doing my final years of school for my Art Class/Exams I was always drawing and painting "Optical Art" which is Zentangle Art.  So I have made two items this month, one a card with one of Emma's lovely images and a paper gift bag using another image of Emma's on her new CD Rom. I ZENTANGLED them both and backed them on black card stock and some black and white design papers which I had in my crafty stash and then added a sentiment. I do hope you like them xx

Hello everyone, this is Sarah speaking!  So a new month already, my goodness where did the last month go to - it seems to have flown by. The good thing is this means it's time for a new challenge and what a lovely challenge it is too.  I'm another one who likes to follow a sketch, and I also think this is a fab dress up or down sketch.

I've used a new image and gone for bright colours - hoping to encourage the weather in the UK to change. I've used a piece of very old patterned paper then used the negative of a die-cut as a frame and popped my fabby FlatFriends image on the front of the die.  I've embossed the frame and used a metal flower for a  embellishment. Job done! Looking forward to all your wonderful entries!

Hey guys, Em here x This challenge was one of a couple of firsts for me – my 1st time drawing a sketch to use, and my 1st time making a card from a sketch. I thought this card would be easy as there was already a structure in place but I actually found it harder :-D I tend to have a picture in my mind of how I want my card to look when I start out and then things go wrong and the card gets smaller and smaller or changes shape completely – things never quite go to plan. I had to be much more disciplined than normal with this card which was a little challenge in itself :-) That said though, I’m actually happy with how the card turned out in the end (thanks to the ever so wonderful My Minds Eye papers and Paper Smooches stamps) and it was actually nice ending up with something that looked exactly as it had done in my head :-D x x

Challenge 8 - Punches x

Okay guys, seriously, where did April go? I'll be starting my happy count down to Crimbo before we know it - the months are flying by so fast! :-) I can't believe it's been a month since our last challenge - it's been a busy month for me with two lovely weekends down south to visit our gorgeous family and friends and we've had friends up to stay and lots of over-eating/drinking evenings which always go down nicely :-) The good food diet I promised myself after the Easter bank holiday hasn't started yet lol - perhaps this month... :-D x x

As always, I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who found the time to enter our challenge last month. It's such a treat for me every time I see one of my little drawings on a beautiful card and, once again, we had some really beautiful entries x x

I've run the numbers though the Random Number Generator again and the winner for the Stitching challenge is:

Donna

Congratulations hun – I’ll add your card to the winners wall today x If you email me at flatfriendsboutique@gmail.com with your choice of 4 digis I’ll get them over to you. You can grab your winners badge from the sidebar too – any probs let me know x

As you can see from the title above this month’s challenge is ‘Punches’ and the girls have come up with some gorgeous designs for this one - I can't wait to see what everyone else comes up with x x

A winner will be chosen using the Random Number Generator and announced on the 1st of June (when we launch the next challenge). They will have their choice of 4 free Flat Friends digi’s and their card will feature on our Wall of Fame for the month.

Audrey here and great minds must think alike LOL b/c Sarah and I chose the same new digi "Bee Happy."  I however, decided to color her like a ladybug after finding this cute DP in my stash.  I colored her with Copics and Sakura glitter pen and cut with Nestie.  I used an all around punch on the purple frame and sentiment is cut with an SU punch.  I added seam binding bow in the lower corner and Prima pearl flourish on the upper right.  I sure hope you like it and will come join the challenge :)

Kathy here sharing my card for May. I love punches, use them almost every time I create. For this one I used a Martha Stewart border punch and two SU word window punches. My image is called Paige - "I Love You". She is so sweet and fun to color. I hope you will grab some of your punches and join us this week.

Hi Ladies, It's Sally here from very rainy Germany! Here is my May challenge card. The theme is punches so I picked one of Emma's new designs, coloured her in with Graph it marker pens, added a little detail to the card on the image. Matted the image on pink card stock and used a Martha Stewart punch (around the page) to edge it. Then chose some papers from the Pen & Paper No.5 CD Rom from www.polkadoodles.co.uk  matted them on kraft cardstock added a bow and a die cut flower border. There you have it!
Hello all, Sarah here - punches, hmm!  Well I used to use them a lot before I went over to dies but they are a bit neglected at the moment.  I think they were glad for the outing!

I used one of Emma's newer digis, coloured her in with my Promarkers, added glamour dust to her wings, and cut her out.  I picked my papers and stitched them to my backing card.  I used a circle punch to create the scalloped boarder and the flowers.  A sentiment stamp and some bling in the flowers and I was done.  Hope you like!

Hey guys, Em here x I really enjoyed making this card - turns out I love working with punches :-) I like to keep my cards pretty simple and once I’d done the doily punching I was like – ‘yeah that’s pretty cute – I’m done’ - thank you Martha :-D I kept wondering if I should add bits to it but decided in the end to just chuck on a bit of string and stick with what I had so here it is – for the digi I went with ‘Colour me Happy’, the paper is from (can you guess) yes – My Mind’s Eye ‘Away We Go’. I seriously need to give another paper pad company I go – seems cruel to be sooo in love with 1 company lol – shall try to share the love one day soon :-) For the card base I used Papermania Tall Card Blanks (Kraft), the Tonic Studio Cutter to round off the white card edges, and of course the punch is Martha Stewart – ‘doily’.

Challenge 7 - Stitching- Real or Faux x

Hey guys, hope you're having a lovely bank holiday Easter Weekend and have happy bellies full of lovely chocolate x Healthy eating starts again tomorrow lol :-) It's been a lovely weekend for hubby and I with very dear friends coming to stay - lots of drinking, eating, and general overindulgence - bliss :-D x

I want to say a massive thank you to everyone that joined us for the challenge last month - I really enjoyed seeing the beautiful creations and loved celebrating friendship for the month x I've run the numbers though the Random Number Generator again and the winner for the Friendship challenge is:

Gail

Congratulations sweetie – I’ll add your card to the winners wall today x If you email me at flatfriendsboutique@gmail.com with your choice of 4 digis I’ll get them over to you. You can grab your winners badge from the sidebar too – any probs let me know x

As you can see from the title above this month’s challenge is ‘Stitching - real or faux’ - I've developed a big soft spot for stitching on cards so I can't wait to see everyone's lovely creations for this one x x

A winner will be chosen using the Random Number Generator and announced on the 1st of May (when we launch the next challenge). They will have their choice of 4 free Flat Friends digi’s and their card will feature on our Wall of Fame for the month.

As always a Flat Friends digi must be used for your creation but there are some freebies that can be used if you don't already own one of my designs which can be accessed from the freebies tab above x

Okay I’ll leave you to have a look though the lovely inspiration we’ve got from the design team this month – it would appear our lovely gals are all pretty handy with a needle and thread :-) Thank you ladies - stunning creations as always x x

Digi Hugs and xx's

Hi everyone, it's Audrey!  I am using the darling Millie Birthday image from Flat Friends.  I colored this wonderful image with Copics and cut out with a stitched die from L'il Inker Designs - die is actually a square, but I altered it to fit the image.  I added another stitched die cut piece behind it, leaving that one a square.  I found this awesome stitched ribbon from Paper Mart.  Cardstock used is Core-dinations and American Crafts, Designed paper is from My Mind's Eye.  I added a flower from Wild Orchid Crafts and sentiment from Just Rite Stamps that is cut with another L'il Inkers die.  Sure hope you like it and will come join the challenge!!
Hey everyone, Kathy here, I love to sew on my cards, I think it adds such a little something extra. So for this one I just gave it some zig zag stitching with my machine. I used this adorable Graduation Celebration image called,  Hope you are all having a great start to April and will find some time to play along with us.

Hi Everyone, It's PattyHere is my card for this month's challenge.  It was a quick make as I left it to the last minute!!!!  I used one of Emma's new imaged Cheerleader,  I coloured her with my Prismacolor pencils .   I used my Spellbinders Oval die to cut out a bright pink oval and cut her outlining and matted on the pink oval  I then layered the pink oval on top of a design paper (don't remmember who's it is!) I then I used my Sew easy Zig Zag to stitched a pink border on top of the design paper around the edges. All of the papers used were from my crafty stash on top of my table.  Added the Spanish sentiment Feliz Feliz Feliz Cumpleanos which means Happy Happy Happy Birthday! and finished with some faux stiched on the bottom border.

Hi it's Sally here.  Happy Easter everyone from snowy Germany! Yes, its snowing on Easter Sunday!!! Brrr! Anyway, Here is my card for this month's challenge.  It was a quick make as I left it to the last minute!!!!  I had one of Emma's imaged already printed so I coloured her with my new Graph it pens.  I really like how they blend and the colours are vibrant. I used my Spellbinders dies to cut her out and matted on black and faux stitched around the edges. I found a piece of patchwork paper in my crafty stash, I think it is from one of my Polkadoodles CD Roms, not sure which one though. Matted it on black and again faux stitched around it. Added another layer which is a Spellbinder die also as it has the holes pierced around the inner  rim and again made it look like stitching. Added a piece of Gingham ribbon and a sentiment and of course a bit of glitter!

Hi all, Sarah speaking - so stitching, eh!  Well I normally make do with faux stitching but as I went and broke my pokey tool trying to do that on this card - I took the plunge and got out my (well my mother-in-law's!) old Singer sewing machine.  I don't think I did too bad for my first attempt in ages at machine stitching on cards, even if I do say so myself!

I used a freebie digi of Emma's that you will find on the blog, coloured with my Promarkers and then used one of my Nestie labels to cut her out.  Some flowers, a flourish - both Memory Box dies - sentiment, heart and he presto you have a birthday card.

Hope you like!

Em - Hey guys x I was really looking forward to this challenge as I’d wanted to give stitching a go for a while. For my card I decided to go with the ‘Foxy Friend’ digi, and went with My Mind’s Eye papers again (yes I am obsessed) the pink paper is from the ‘Happier’ paper pad and the Yellow/Orange one is from the ‘Away We Go’ paper pad. I used the ‘Hey Buddy’ stamp from ‘Simply Said’ stamp set by Paper Smooches with the Antique Linen Ink Pad by Tim Holtz but you can't see it very well on the photo I'm afraid. To make the holes for the stitching I used the ‘Sew Easy Stitch Piercer’ (which I must admit is ‘Sew Easy’ to use) :-) For the stitching itself I just matched some embroidery threads as well as I could from my thread stash. I can’t decide if I’m happy with this card or not but I didn’t dislike it enough to start from scratch which must be a good sign :-D x x

As always I want to say a big thank you to the girls who joined us on the challenge last month – I really enjoyed the inspiration as I’m trying to get into using die cuts now I’m making cards myself - looks like all of my pocket money pennies will be going towards them in the future :-D I ran the numbers though the Random Number Generator again and the winner for the challenge is:

Ruth

As you can see from the title above this month’s challenge is ‘Friendship’ so we’re looking for cute cards for friends :-) I’m sure we’ve all got some lovely friendships to celebrate so hopefully this should be a nice theme – I’m really looking forward to seeing what people do with this one :-D

A winner will be chosen using the Random Number Generator and announced on the 1st of April (when we launch the next challenge). They will have their choice of 4 free Flat Friends digi’s and their card will feature on our Wall of Fame for the month.

Okay I’ll leave you to have a look though the gorgeous inspiration we’ve got from the design team this month – I’ve been having major swoons over these ones – soooo cute!! Thank you ladies – fabtastic as always x x

Big love & Digi Hugs x x

Audrey here, I am the new kid on the block and so thrilled to be part of the Flat Friends DT. I have chosen "Goldi" image from the Fairy Tales category.  I thought she was perfect with her 3 little bear friends. I colored her with Copics and cut out with Sizzix dies.  I have added SU designer paper and cardstock from Bazzill and Taylored Expressions.  My sentiment is from Inky Antics and is cut with MFT die - I think the words fit perfectly with the image.  Ribbon added is from my stash:

Hi everyone, Kathy here. I've made a sweet little card for a friend with Love Ewe image. I think I'll put a sentiment inside that uses a play on words with ewe, like "Thinking of Ewe". I've colored her with copics and added a bitty Trendy Twine bow to her hair and paired her with some Crate papers. The little sheep is coated with flock for a bit of texture. Hope you will take some time and play along this month!

Sally - Hi folks, this is my "Friends" Challenge for this month. I chose this image as I am sure everyone needs a big hug now and again. I coloured the image using promarkers and flexmarkers. I chose some background papers from my crafty stash and mounted the image on one of my favourite Spellbinder dies. I added a sentiment from Cherry Blossom Lane CD Rom from Polkadoodles and that is it:

Hi all, Sarah here.  So for my card I decided to go bright - do y'think it's bright enough?  I used a Memory Box corner swirl, which I've chopped into pieces and dug out some very bright flowers from one of my (ahem) many boxes.  I layered two flowers up and finished off with a brad. I coloured the image with Promarkers and edged all the papers with one of the same pens that I'd coloured with and swiped some ink all over as well.

The sentiment is one I've had for ages and I inked around it while it was still in the die.  I thought maybe it could be sent to a friend who needs a hug:

Em - Hiya guys x For my card I decided to go with the ‘Deer Friend’ digi and tried to make an outdoor scene for the layout as I thought it would fit quite nicely with the design. For supplies I used the Marshmallow clouds' die from Memory Box, the blue paper for the sky came from the 'Away We Go' My Mind's Eye paper pad, and the Green Paper which I cut for grass came from the 'Dwell' My Mind's Eye paper pad. To lift the front of the card up to give a bit of a 3d effect for the cloud I used some foam squares. I had originally intended to put a ‘Deer Friend’ sentiment on the front to make it fit nicely with the month’s challenge theme but made the mistake of sticking everything down and then realising I didn’t have a perfect spot to place a sentiment lol :-D To solve the problem (aka cheat) I decorated the inside of the card too and added the sentiment there (pic on my personal blog). Everyday’s a learning day as a card making newbie but I’m loving it  :-) x x
